JAMIA: Remembering December 15

I visited Jamia Milia Islamia exactly a month after Delhi Police attacked students protesting against the newly-made CAA or the Citizenship Amendment Act. On December 15, 2019, the police had entered the University's campus and brutalized students who had begun their peaceful protests barely two days. This violent crackdown was supposed to send a strong message to protesters in other cities and colleges across India but it in fact had quite the opposite effect as it galvanized students and civil society members angry with both the law and the way the police attacked students at Jamia. This film stitches together versions of that dark night as told to me by the students
